Panic created due to land subsidence, shepherds narrowly escaped
Korba. About one acre of land near Vijay West coal mine in the district has sunk five feet. Due to which there is an atmosphere of panic among the villagers. They are worried about untoward incidents happening every day. At the place where the ground has sunk, some shepherds were grazing their cattle.
Actually, Vijay West underground coal mine is operated in Chirmiri area of Puti Pakhna of Pondi Uprora block. Some villagers of Bijadand village had gone to the forest. During this time, he was shocked to see the scene. About one acre of land was sunk five feet below. Of which the villagers were not aware.
Villagers say that even before this incident of land subsidence has happened around the mine, but the coal management is not taking initiative to surround the concerned area with facing wire. On the contrary, the management talks about taking permission from the government apart from the environment department.
