Lawyer threatens, FIR lodged in extortion case

Korba. A case of extortion has been filed against a city lawyer at the Manikpur police station based on a report from the BJP’s Purani Basti ward coordinator. Shatrughan Singh Rajput, a resident of Purani Basti Ward No. 4 in the city, is the BJP ward coordinator.

Rajput filed a report against advocate Dilip Miri, a resident of Manikpur Diparapara, at the Manikpur police station on Friday. Rajput owns ancestral land in Diparapara, Dadarkhurd.

Under the pretext of getting work done on the land, Dilip Miri extorted ₹220,000 and demanded additional payment. The applicant alleged that Miri was conspiring to implicate him in a false and caste-based case if he refused. He was abused and threatened with death if he went to the ancestral land.
