Hyderabad: Railways achieves best ever performance in freight business

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) recorded its best performance in freight business during the last financial year 2024-25 and surpassed the previous best figures recorded in 2023-24. The zone recorded 144.140 million tonnes of freight loading, which is 2 per cent higher than the previous best freight loading. Similarly, in terms of freight revenue, the zone recorded Rs 13, 825 crore, which is also 2 per cent higher than the previous best freight revenue recorded during 2023-24.

SCR officials said the zone is giving a major thrust towards attracting new streams of freight business while strengthening its existing freight basket. Special focus was laid on enhancing infrastructure, working environment at freight terminals, improving goods sheds, etc. Also, regular communication is being maintained with freight customers so that the requirements of freight customers are met within the stipulated time.
