Suparn Verma talks about the journey of deep research and preparation for the film ‘Haq’

Entertainment: Director Suparn Verma has spoken extensively about the production and research process for his recently released film, “Haq.” The film, starring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi, received positive reviews from critics upon its release, but underperformed at the box office.

In an interview, Suparn Verma explained that the team conducted extensive research before making this project to ensure a realistic and accurate story. He added that in today’s world, when information is readily available but its accuracy is questionable, research becomes even more crucial.

According to Verma, the team spent approximately one and a half years understanding Islamic law to maintain the film’s authenticity. He also revealed that actress Yami Gautam studied the Holy Quran while preparing for her role to bring a more authentic portrayal.

The director stated that his aim was not simply to make a film, but to present a story that would provoke audiences to think. He said, “In today’s world, information is everywhere, but it’s difficult to distinguish between right and wrong. In such a situation, a film like ‘Haq’ serves as a balanced and sensible voice.”

The film ‘Haq’ was produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios. The film’s budget was reported to be approximately ₹40 crore, while it grossed approximately ₹30 crore in theaters.

The film was praised for its story, acting, and serious subject matter, but it was not a success in terms of revenue. Despite this, the research and preparation involved in the film continues to be discussed.

Suparn Verma also indicated that maintaining accuracy and sensitivity in such films is a major challenge, especially when the subject involves religious and legal aspects.
