Cancer treatment with Ladakh soil microorganisms

Ladakh: Researchers at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have made a new discovery. They have concluded that cancer, TB and diabetes can be treated through microorganisms found in the soil of Ladakh. Scientists believe that many stubborn diseases can be treated with the chemicals found in the microorganisms there. The researchers analyzed the bacteria Streptomyces netropsis. They found that the microorganism contains about 13 types of chemicals. They found that the alkaloids contain a substance called pimprinithine.
The chemical was studied using sophisticated spectroscopic techniques. It was confirmed that pimprinithine has many uses. Researchers found that the substance has high antimicrobial and cytotoxic activity. CSIR researchers said that this substance is crucial in the treatment of prostate cancer cells. They concluded that pimprinithine is effective in the treatment of infectious and non-communicable diseases. The Indian Institute of Chemical Technology and the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research, both part of the CSIR, participated in the study.
A review on this was published in the journal Bioresource Technology. The study stated that some types of natural chemicals present in microorganisms have antibiotic, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory properties. They said that these chemicals could also be key in the treatment of heart-related diseases. The researchers said that the Himalayan region of Leh-Ladakh is suitable for microorganisms.
