Multi-cornered contest expected ahead of Nanded civic body elections

Maharashtra: The political atmosphere in Nanded is heating up ahead of the Nanded Waghala City Municipal Corporation (NWCMC) elections for 2025-26. A total of 491 candidates are contesting for 81 seats. Most wards are expected to be triangular or even four-cornered, providing voters with numerous options and posing significant strategic challenges for political parties and independent candidates.
Ruling parties, major opposition parties, and several regional parties have entered the fray, each striving to ensure that as many of their candidates as possible win. In many wards, a close contest is expected. Candidates have intensified their campaigning by going door-to-door, using social media platforms, and holding corner meetings.
Recognized political parties, as well as independent candidates, have released their election manifestos. Most of these manifestos focus on development, infrastructure, sanitation, water supply, roads, education, and health. Independent candidates, in particular, are engaging directly with voters on local issues.
