Illegal fishing; boat detained

Kerala: Fisheries Department officials have seized an illegal fishing boat that was preparing to leave for fishing. The boat, owned by Sahairaj of Amala Arpavam Matha, Kulachal Kathiapatnam, Kanyakumari, was seized.

During a Fisheries Marine Enforcement check at Beypore Fishing Harbour on Thursday, high-voltage fishing lights, which were prohibited, were found in the boat. Officials said that on the instructions of Assistant Director of Fisheries Beypore V. Suneer, SI T.K. Rajesh, K. Rajan, SCPO Manu Thomas, rescue guards Vignesh, Tajudeen, Vishwajeet, and Bilal took part in the checking.
