Pankaj Chaudhary appointed as UP BJP chief!

Lucknow: There are chances of Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary being appointed as the Uttar Pradesh BJP party chief. It seems that there is a chance that a grand ceremony will be held in Lucknow on Sunday. He is likely to file his nomination papers today. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal will be present at the nomination filing ceremony. National Secretary Vinod Tawade will also be present.
Pankaj Chaudhary has won seven times as an MP from Maharajganj constituency. His family has a political background. Pankaj’s mother Ujjwal Chaudhary was made the President of Maharajganj District Panchayat. He completed his graduation from Gorakhpur University. Chaudhary also won in local elections. He was a member of the Gorakhpur Municipal Council from 1989 to 1991. Pankaj Chaudhary has been continuing his career as a member of the BJP since 1990. He joined as the Minister of State for Finance in Prime Minister Modi’s second term.
Pankaj Chaudhary belongs to the Kurmi community. In UP, the Kurmi caste is considered an OBC category. Among the OBC voters in UP, Kurmis are in second place after the Yadavs. There are 8 to 10 percent Kurmi voters in the state. This means that at least 30 to 40 seats are under their control. Kurmis are influential in Terai, Kashi, Gorakhpur, Awadh and Rohilkhand regions.
With Santosh Gangwar being made governor, Pankaj Chaudhary has emerged as the BJP chief. Keeping in mind the 2027 assembly elections, the BJP is considering giving the post of state president to a BC leader.
