2 girls drowned in river during ‘Karthik Snan’

Datia: A 13-year-old girl and a 21-year-old woman lost their lives while taking a ‘Karthik bath’ in the Angoori river in Datia on Wednesday.

The incident took place in the morning, around 6.30 am, about 200 women of Bhagor village gathered in the river to take bath.

The deceased has been identified as Sakshi (13), who was lost while worshiping the idol of Lord Krishna when the tragedy occurred, and then another person named Komesh Yadav (21) ran to save Sakshi, but Unfortunately both of them were washed away in the heavy water. River.

Komesh’s sister-in-law Muskaan Yadav said that after performing the rituals, she was near the river bank when she saw Sakshi struggling in the water. She ran to save the girl but unfortunately they were swept away by the strong current of water.

Local resident Gautam Yadav, who was working in a nearby field, ran towards the spot after hearing cries for help. He accurately described the scene of two women who could not be saved despite all efforts.

According to officer-in-charge Vaibhav Gupta, the women were engrossed in worshiping the idol of Lord Krishna when the tragedy occurred. At around 9 in the morning, Sakshi (13) went to the river to take a bath and was swept away by the strong current. In an attempt to save him, 2-3 women also entered the water, including Komesh Yadav (21), who also met the same fate. The remaining women were rescued safely by the villagers.

The police have sent him to the district hospital for post-mortem. Under the Sambal Yojana, the Tehsildar has announced to give an amount of Rs 4 lakh to the families of the deceased.
