Tamil Nadu: Schools and colleges in various districts of Tamil Nadu have been declared a day-long holiday today (November 29) due to Cyclone Titwa.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has appealed to people not to venture out unnecessarily as a warning of heavy rainfall has been issued in Tamil Nadu following Cyclone Titwa.
As a precautionary measure, the respective district collectors have ordered a holiday for schools and colleges in Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Kallakurichi, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Kallakurichi, and Pudukkottai districts today (November 29).
Schools have been declared closed only in Thanjavur and Villupuram.
In addition, schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal have also been declared a day-long holiday today.
Meanwhile, the government has clarified that the information about schools being closed across Tamil Nadu tomorrow is incorrect. It has been reported that the respective district administration will declare a holiday based on the rainfall situation.
The deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka-Indian Ocean regions intensified into a cyclonic storm on November 27 and moved towards the Tamil Nadu coast.
