Chief Minister Conrad Sangma distributed cheques to 2,000 FOCUS+ beneficiaries in Resubelpara

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday distributed financial assistance to nearly 2,000 new beneficiaries under the FOCUS+ scheme at a program held in Resubelpara in North Garo Hills district.

On the micro-blogging site X, the Chief Minister emphasized that the initiative aims to strengthen the farming community and improve their economic prospects. Sangma further stated, “Through FOCUS+, we are not just providing financial assistance; we are empowering our farmers to increase their income, strengthen producer groups, and bring about positive change at the grassroots level.”

He further stated that the scheme focuses on strengthening farmers and promoting self-reliance, as well as promoting sustainable growth in rural communities.

According to the Chief Minister, this program demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting farmers across the state and improving their livelihoods.

Sangma also noted that the Meghalaya government was the first to launch a special welfare program specifically for farmers.

He said, “This initiative is about building resilience, self-reliance, and sustainable development in our farming communities. It truly reaffirms our commitment to a people-first government.”

During the event, the Chief Minister also presented checks to individuals and community members actively engaged in protecting forests and conserving natural resources under the Green Meghalaya initiative.

Sangma commended their efforts and said that community participation is crucial in preserving Meghalaya’s rich ecological heritage.
